La Cubana Brings Authentic Cuban Flavors to Utah

Written by Orlando Rodriguez | January 09, 2026

Few things bring people together better than a good meal. That’s exactly what La Cubana, an authentic Cuban food truck and catering service in Utah, set out to do.

In partnership with the Women’s Business Center of Utah, Cyprus Credit Union awarded La Cubana with a $1,000 grant. The Women’s Business Center of Utah empowers women-owned businesses throughout the state by providing tools, resources, and guidance so they won’t have to build their business alone.

Rooted in family, culture, and community, La Cubana aims to bring people together through food. Owner and founder Christina Rojas offers a menu featuring family recipes passed down from her mother, who also taught her how to cook. You will find dishes such as Cuban sandwiches, lechón, ropa vieja, moros cristianos (black beans and rice), pastelitos, croquetas, and even fresh cups of Cuban coffee.

“La Cubana is more than a food business—it’s a legacy project. It honors my family, my culture, and my belief that food can bring people together, create healing, and tell stories that matter,” she says.

Christina also makes it her mission to help the community as best she can, including feeding unhoused communities and partnering with local charities to give back whenever possible. And they’ve been recognized for their hard work.

“In 2019, I was honored as part of the 100 Strong Women of Utah, a recognition created by photographer Nico Santos highlighting women across the state making meaningful contributions through leadership, entrepreneurship, and community impact, including work supporting unhoused individuals.”

Their food truck is easy to spot, with its Miami art deco-inspired design, a tribute to Christina’s mother. Any visitor is welcome and will receive the highest hospitality as well as quality food.

Advice for Future Business Owners

Christina knows the value of fostering good relationships and how it can help budding entrepreneurs build their business.

“Start with purpose, not perfection. Learn your numbers early, ask for help, and build relationships. Resilience and community matter just as much as the product you’re selling.”
