Reset With Mindfulness

Written by Garrett Lloyd | December 30, 2021

It’s easy to get swept up in the everyday craziness that seems to consume our lives. However, it’s important that we make a conscious effort to be mindful of what is happening around us. Being mindful means being fully present in the moment as it is happening around you.

Put Down the Phone

The world is connected more now than ever before. With just the touch of a finger, you can access emails, social media, texting, and more. This easy access, however, also has a downside. Instead of focusing on what’s happening around you, you could be too consumed by what’s happening on your screen. Make it a goal to have your phone put away by a certain time in the evening or at intervals throughout the day. Sometimes, just focusing on being in the moment and enjoying it is a better memory than any picture could be.

Focus More

It’s easy to go into autopilot during the more mundane parts of our schedule. Use these moments to really pay attention to what you’re doing. Instead of listening to loud music on the way to work, focus on what’s happening in the world around you. Even a few minutes of being mindful each day can have a major impact on your overall mental livelihood.

Be Creative

Take time to do something that is outside of your normal schedule a few times each week. This could be going to a painting class, learning how to cook something new, or keeping a journal. This will give your mind a chance to shut out the world and focus on something else. Exercising your creativity can also help reduce your stress.

Breathe

If you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, take a minute or two to breathe. By focusing on your breathing, you can get rid of some of those outside thoughts. This will help reduce your stress and regain focus on the task at hand.
