This year, 2,800 children and 1,400 senior citizens benefitted from The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program in Salt Lake. Cyprus Credit Union, a proud supporter of Angel Tree, is thrilled to have joined with so many generous members of the public to make this possible. Thanks to all of you, the holidays were brighter for thousands of Utahns in need.

Angel Tree provides holiday gifts to senior citizens and children of local families in need. While anyone interested in contributing to the program can make a monetary donation online, those who would like a more hands-on experience can visit Angel Tree sponsors like Cyprus Credit Union. Every year, most Cyprus CU locations have a Christmas tree decorated with tags, each featuring the name of a child (called an “Angel”), their age, and the items they need or would like for the holidays. Anyone can “adopt an Angel” by choosing a tag, shopping for the listed items, and returning the items to the sponsor.

For those interested in donating or adopting an Angel, note that the 2024 Angel Tree program has concluded.

Cyprus Credit Union is proud to have sponsored Angel Tree during the past two decades. Cyprus employees decorate the trees, volunteer to package gifts at the Angel Tree warehouse, and shop for Angels’ gifts.

“Every year, we help to fundraise, and we help to bring in all the gifts,” says Amanda Morton, VP of Relationship Development at Cyprus Credit Union. “During the holiday season, what better time than to help through physical donation and through monetary donation?”

The total amount donated to Angel Tree in 2024 was $44,266.98. These funds allow Angel Tree to reach more families and fulfill their Christmas wishes.

“I’m really lucky that I get to see it from beginning to end,” says Lt. Kate Combs of the Salvation Army's Salt Lake City Corps. “I’m there from when the families are coming to ask about it to the day when they come to pick up. I get to see the parents’ relief when they know that they’re going to be helped for Christmas and then their joy . . . when they’re receiving bikes and things, and you can just see that they’re so excited for what they’re able to give their children.”
