How a Twisted Sugar Franchise Turned a Dream Into Sweet Success

When Veronica Benson had a dream about buying a Twisted Sugar franchise, she wasn’t sure it would become a reality.

“At first, we laughed about it,” says her husband Aaron. “But the seed was planted in her mind, and thus began our wild ride.”

That was in the summer of 2020. The couple had gotten to know the owner of a Twisted Sugar in Taylorsville, Utah and approached him about buying the business. They were in luck.

“The original owner was thinking of selling since he lived far away, but hadn’t told anyone yet,” explains Veronica.

This fall, the Bensons will celebrate two years of owning the Twisted Sugar location in Taylorsville. The business dedicates itself to making a variety of fresh-baked cookies, specialty sodas, and smoothies.

“It’s been a great opportunity to get to know our community better and to serve them.”

For the Bensons, the perks of owning their own business are clear.

“We love that we have the flexibility with our business and our time. We also like being able to provide a product that people love and a way to employ teenagers and people in our community.”

Of course, it isn’t all fun and games. Taking on the responsibility of business ownership requires hard work and dedication.

“Just know that there will be ups and downs to pursuing your dreams. You will have days that are amazing and you’re loving life, but then there will be times when you have hard days,” says Veronica. “Remember why you started in the first place and be willing to take both the good and the hard.”
