Virg’s Restaurant was started in 1981 and was originally located on State Street in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1990, Dave Law took over ownership of the restaurant after the original owner passed away. The original owner's wife Virginia (“Virg”) did not want to keep running the restaurant and sold it to Dave. Today, there are four Virg’s locations: Erda, Taylorsville, Ogden, and West Valley.
The original Virg’s was known for fish & chips and chicken strips. Today, they are known for their old-fashioned diner meals which include breakfast and lunch.
Dave’s advice to entrepreneurs starting their own business is “keeping small is better.” Dave acts as the manager, does the marketing, accounting, and payroll. As a small business owner, he wears many hats so his advice is to start out small.
